電力市場分析に特化したリサーチ・コンサルティング会社のAurora Energy Research株式会社（本社：東京都中央区、以下「オーロラ・エナジー・リサーチ」）は、 AMP-lify株式会社が福井県美浜町で進める出力50メガワット・蓄電容量 200MWhの系統用蓄電池プロジェクト（以下「本プロジェクト」）について、マーケットアドバイザーとして、本プロジェクトの収益見通しに関するレポートを提供しました。 

本プロジェクトでは、 ING Wholesale Banking(以下「ING」) が単独主幹事、アカウントバンク、ディール・コンティンジェント・ヘッジ（注1）プロバイダー、グリーンローン・コーディネーターを務め、64億8,100万円 のファイナンスが組成されました。INGの発表では、本件は同社にとって日本で初めての単独型・系統用（ユーティリティスケール）蓄電池ファイナンス、初のマーチャント型（注2）蓄電池ファイナンス、そして蓄電池プロジェクト向けとして初の為替ディール・コンティンジェント・ヘッジの提供となります。 

## ■背景

系統の安定化や再生可能エネルギーの拡大において蓄電池の重要性が高まるなか、次世代のインフラを支えるには革新的なファイナンス・ストラクチャーが不可欠となっています。 

本プロジェクトにより、地域の特性に即した、技術的信頼性に優れる大規模蓄電池システムが電力系統に導入されます。これにより、系統の安定性、レジリエンス、効率性の向上に寄与するとともに、火力発電所を用いた代替的な手段と比べて、より迅速に応答することができます。さらに、日本全体で電力需要の増加が見込まれるなか、需給の変動に合わせて迅速かつ費用対効果の高い調整力を供給し、電力需給の安定化を後押しすることで、エネルギーの有効活用にも寄与していく予定です。 

このように本プロジェクトは、日本のエネルギー転換が進展を続けていることを示す事例の一つでもあります。

## **Aurora Energy Research Supports Economic Analysis for AMP-lify’s 50MW/200MWh Grid-Scale Battery Storage Project in Mihama, Fukui Prefecture**

**– ING arranges JPY 6.5 billion financing as sole lead arranger –**

Aurora Energy Research K.K. (“Aurora Energy Research”) is a research and consulting firm that specializes in power market analysis, headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Acting as market advisor, it has provided a revenue outlook report for a grid-scale battery storage project that AMP-lify Co., Ltd. is developing in Mihama, Fukui Prefecture. The project has an output of 50MW and a storage capacity of 200MWh (the “Project”).

ING Wholesale Banking (“ING”) acted as sole lead arranger, account bank, deal-contingent hedge (Note 1) provider and green loan coordinator for the Project, which secured JPY 6,481 million in financing. According to ING’s announcement, the transaction marks three firsts for ING:

- its first standalone, utility-scale battery storage financing in Japan

- its first merchant (Note 2) battery storage financing

- its first foreign exchange deal-contingent hedge for a battery storage project

## **■ Background**

Battery storage is becoming increasingly important for grid stability and the growth of renewable energy. As a result, innovative financing structures are now essential to support next-generation infrastructure.

The Project will connect a large-scale, technically reliable battery storage system, designed for local conditions, to the power grid. This will help improve grid stability, resilience and efficiency, and it can respond faster than alternatives that rely on thermal power plants. Electricity demand is expected to rise across Japan. In that context, the Project is expected to provide fast, cost-effective balancing capacity in step with changes in supply and demand. By helping to stabilize the balance between supply and demand, it will also support more effective use of energy.

The Project is also one example of the continued progress of Japan’s energy transition.

## **■ Aurora Energy Research’s Role**

The report Aurora Energy Research provided for the Project is based on its analysis of the Japanese power market using its proprietary power market model. The company has built detailed models to analyze power markets in more than 10 regions worldwide. As a market advisor, it provides this analysis to utilities, corporates, financial institutions and other clients.
